Jordan Love and the Green Bay Packers were able to survive a major scare against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 7. After a long game of playing from behind, the Packers finally took their first lead with just 1:50 remaining in the game.
Despite the sluggish all-around game, Green Bay got the job done. The team improved to 4-1-1 on the season with the win.
Against the Cardinals, Love came through with an uninspiring performance. He completed 19 of his 29 pass attempts for 179 yards, a touchdown, and no interceptions. Love also picked up 22 yards on the ground.
While he didn’t play poorly, Love did not power his team to a win. He made enough plays to head back to Green Bay with the win, but he was unable to produce at a high level throughout the game.
Following the tight win over Arizona, former NFL head coach Rex Ryan took some time to speak out about Love. He made it clear that he thinks the 26-year-old quarterback has elite potential, but also made it clear that he doesn’t trust Love.
“He’s got unbelievable ability,” Ryan said. “But at the end of the day, do I trust Jordan Love? No I don’t.”
Through the first six games of the 2025 NFL season, Love has played at a high level. He has thrown for 1,438 yards, 10 touchdowns, and two interceptions, while completing 69.3 percent of his passes. In addition, he has totaled 110 rushing yards on 24 attempts.
At least for now, those numbers have shown a big step in the right direction from Love. He has taken care of the football well for the most part and is completing a career-high percent of his passes as well. There are still areas where the young signal caller needs to improve, but he has shown more signs of development.
Right now, the Packers are leading the NFC North division race. They are also the second-best team in the NFC. Love has been a big part of their early-season success.
It’s understandable that Ryan doesn’t trust Love yet. After all, he has yet to win big in the playoffs. He has a lot left to prove.
That being said, Love is playing at a high level for Green Bay this season. The Packers as a whole still have a lot of work to do and a lot of things to prove, but they’re still one of the best teams in the NFL through Week 7.
