The San Francisco 49ers are trying to finally make 2024 the year they win it all. Four out of the last six seasons, 49ers fans have experienced a tremendous amount of heartbreak. Four times since 2019 San Francisco has lost either in the NFC Championship game or the Super Bowl itself. They’re still chasing their first championship since 1995.
However, one recent piece of news got fans even more excited for the upcoming season.
One of the last dominos to fall was star left tackle Trent Williams getting back on the field. Williams has been a hold out after contract negotiations had stalled. However, there was a major update on that front:
The 49ers open their season against the New York Jets on Monday Night Football next week. Fortunately, they will have their All-Pro left tackle for the start of the regular season.
According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, Williams and the 49ers are close enough to an agreement that the left tackle felt comfortable reporting to the team on Tuesday morning.
Williams, who is 36 years old, currently does not have any more guaranteed money on his contract, a six-year deal that he signed back in 2021.
Earlier this offseason, San Francisco re-did running back Christian McCaffery’s contract so that he could have more guarantees as well.
Having Williams back on the field is huge for San Francisco’s offense, and fans know it:

One thing is certain, having Williams as your starting left tackle isn’t a luxury many offenses have. Keeping Brock Purdy upright and having a consistent rushing attack will be key if the 49ers want another shot in winning their first Super Bowl in nearly three decades.
After an off-season full of speculation and rumors, San Francisco winds up with both Brandon Aiyuk and Trent Williams back on their roster to start 2024.
