76ers’ Star Paul George Expected to Make 2024 Season Debut vs Suns

Philadelphia 76ers star forward Paul George could make his Sixers and season debut on Monday.

After dealing with a knee injury for a handful of weeks, George is expected to make his season debut on Monday against the Phoenix Suns.

ESPN’s Shams Charania shared the news via Twitter/X.

George is currently listed as questionable for Monday’s match. He suffered a knee injury in the team’s fourth preseason game against the Atlanta Hawks on Oct. 14.

The 76ers forward has been able to fully participate in practice and 5-on-5 scrimmages, and according to Charania, he is expected to play. The club will see how George feels after pregame warmups and shootaround, and his status for the game is expected to be decided closer to tipoff at 10:15 p.m. ET.

George signed with the 76ers this past summer to a four-year, $212 million contract. George signed with the 76ers in order to get over the hump and finally win a championship alongside his new star teammates Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey.

The 76ers have great odds of winning a championship, as they are led by those three great players. However, they have all yet to play together this season.

Embiid has not played this season and has been ruled out for Monday’s contest. Embiid will have to wait at least one more game before making his season debut due to a left knee issue.

The good news regarding Embiid is that he has been able to participate fully in practice and 5-on-5 scrimmages. In the meantime, center Andre Drummond will continue to hold down the starting center position in his absence.

The 76ers are not having the start they had hoped for. Prior to Monday’s game against the Suns, they sit with a 1-4 record and are currently on a two-game losing streak. This record is due to the absence of their top two star players, but at least they’ll get one of them back on Monday.

George is coming off an All-Star season with the Los Angeles Clippers. He averaged 22.6 points per game, 5.2 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and 1.5 steals while shooting 47 percent from the field and 41 percent from three in 74 games and 33.8 minutes per game.

George had been with the Clippers for the last five seasons.

The farthest he’s made it is to the Conference finals in 2021. The NBA world should finally see George on the court for the first time in the 2024-25 season.
