Minnesota Vikings Release Former First-Round WR on Monday

The Minnesota Vikings made a roster change immediately following their first loss of the season. The Vikings entered their bye week with a 5-0 record and two weeks to prepare for the 2023 NFC North champion Detroit Lions.

Unfortunately for the Vikings, the Lions pulled out a 31-29 victory at U.S. Bank Stadium to steal the lead in the division after seven weeks.

Per an announcement by the Vikings on X, the team released a former wide receiver taken by the New England Patriots in the first round of the 2019 NFL Draft, N’Keal Harry, from their practice squad.

The Vikings signed linebacker Calvin Munson and wide receiver Trishton Jackson to the practice squad in part of a corresponding move to Harry’s release.

Harry signed with the Vikings in 2023 as a wide receiver. The team moved the six-foot-three, 225-pound pass catcher to tight end in the offseason, hoping the former Arizona State standout would be a better fit at that position than wide receiver.

Harry appeared in nine games for the Vikings in the 2023 season but had no offensive stats for Minnesota. He made no appearances through the first seven weeks of the 2024 campaign after making the switch to tight end.

The Vikings have a quick turnaround this week as they prepare to play the Los Angeles Rams on Thursday night.
