The Miami Heat’s season seems to be headed nowhere. They do not look like a team that can compete with the true contenders. Tyler Herro’s leap has been the only positive so far while the rest have struggled to make an impression.
Jimmy Butler got injured in their most recent game and has not looked anywhere near his best. Bam Adebayo seems to have taken a step back in every department as well.
The Heat showed a lot of trust by not making any significant changes over the summer but if things do not improve soon, they will need to shake things up. Right now, they are treading water at best.
Giannis Antetokounmpo is someone who has been linked with a move to Miami in recent months. But he is not the only high-profile name who seems to be on the Heat’s radar.
Anthony Edwards and De’Aaron Fox might be potential targets for Miami as well. According to Brett Siegel on Clutch Points: “Going after the best of the best is always the name of the game for the Heat, which is why nobody should be surprised to see Anthony Edwards, Giannis Antetokounmpo, and De’Aaron Fox be some of the names that this organization is intrigued by. While none of these three All-Stars will be traded this season, all of them carry question marks about their immediate futures with their respective organizations.”
The Minnesota Timberwolves traded Karl Anthony-Towns in the summer. That has not stopped them from making a good start to the season though, as they have a 6-3 record and sit 4th in the West.
But if things go south for the Timberwolves on the court and question marks continue to persist over their ownership, it would not be a surprise to see Edwards look for an exit route.
On the other hand, Fox rejected a maximum contract extension proposal from the Sacramento Kings. So, it remains to be seen what the future holds for him and what his plans are.
The Kings currently sit 11th in the West but they do have a winning record and are 5-4 this season so far.
As for Giannis, there is not much that has not been said yet. The Milwaukee Bucks are a ‘win now’ team that is struggling to win and if that continues, common sense would suggest that the 29-year-old would want to be traded rather than spend his prime years playing for a non-contender.
Edwards, Fox and Giannis are all intriguing options for the Heat and could turn the team back into contenders. Putting together trade packages for them could be challenging though.
