Why Browns linebacker Jordan Hicks deserves more attention (video)

The Browns have some new faces at linebacker, and among those faces is veteran Jordan Hicks, who should receive more attention ahead of 2024.

His career-high 149 tackles in 2019 finished third in the league, and started a streak of five consecutive seasons of 100 or more tackles. Last season, Hicks finished 48th in tackles (107), with 61 of those tackles coming solo.

Among linebackers, Hicks was 23rd in overall defensive grading (74.6), 24th in run defense (74.2) and 31st in tackling (71.3), per Pro Football Focus. Hicks was never one for putting up sacks, but has totaled 14.5 through his nine years.

The one element that is important with Hicks in Cleveland, is his past experience with defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz. His career started with Philadelphia, where he won a Super Bowl and took part in Schwartz’s defense. It was there that Hicks learned the angles of the game and took that knowledge with him to Arizona and beyond.

Playing with Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah, who had a Pro Bowl season, Hicks could add to the production and rack up tackles, too.
