On Thursday morning the NFL announced the Pro Bowl rosters for the AFC and NFC and while there we plenty of snubs, there was also a piece of history.
In the AFC four wide receivers were selected for the Pro Bowl – three of them from the AFC North: Baltimore Ravens wideout Zay Flowers, Cincinnati Bengals star Ja’Marr Chase, Cleveland Browns new addition Jerry Jeudy and Houston Texans breakout star Nico Collins all made the Pro Bowl this season.
For Flowers, it was a historic achievement.
In an announced on social media the Ravens revealed Flowers is the first wide receiver in franchise history to make the Pro Bowl. While the team has had three wide receivers make the Pro Bowl, Jermaine Lewis, Jacoby Jones and Devin Duvernay, they all did so as specialists in the return game.

“Flowers is also the first player in Ravens history to record a 1,000-yard receiving season within the first two years of his career and the fastest player in franchise history to reach 100 career receptions (21 games),” the Ravens said in an announcement this morning.
The team shared a video of Flowers finding out he made the Pro Bowl for the first time in just his second season. “From since I was a little kid, that was a dream,” Flowers said, before hugging general manager Eric DeCosta. “We gotta get that ring, now.”

Flowers admitted he has “personal goals” like hitting 1,000 yards – which he did this season – and making the Pro Bowl. However, the ultimate goal remains winning a championship.
“I have personal goals, but winning is more important to me,” Flowers said. “Like when I got 1,000 yards. As I got closer to it, people were bringing it to my attention, so I said, ‘Ok, let’s go get it.’ But it wasn’t the main thing. I wanted to help us win.”
Flowers has 73 catches, 1,047 yards and four touchdowns heading into Saturday’s regular-season finale against the Cleveland Browns.
