Aston Villa have complied with transfer restrictions imposed on them by UEFA after breaching financial rules.
UEFA fined Villa the sum of £9.5 million in July for failing to comply with rules which allow clubs to lose no more than £60m over a three-year period and not spend more than 80 percent of revenue on wages. A further £12.9m fine was conditional of compliance according to Sky Sports.
Villa were told to post a positive transfer balance by the end of the summer transfer window and that was achieved by minimal spending and the sale of homegrown midfielder Jacob Ramsey to Newcastle United for a profit of £39m.
Villa could have been prevented from registering new signings Harvey Elliott, Jadon Sancho, Victor Lindelof, Evan Guessand and Marco Bizot for this season’s Europa League had they not met UEFA’s demands, but all five were included on the squad list submitted on Wednesday.
In a statement released to Sky Sports, UEFA said: “Aston Villa had a transfer restriction included in their settlement. The List A submitted to UEFA fully complies with all related conditions.”
Villa begin their European campaign at home to Bologna on September 25.
