Game notes
▪︎ Fresh off of winning one in a row (leave me alone, it’s a thing), the Bruins return to Atlantic Division action with a visit to the Ottawa Senators.
▪︎ Ottawa has won two in a row, the latest a 7-1 pounding of the Washington Capitals on Saturday night. That game featured Linus Ullmark doing Linus Ullmark things.
▪︎ The Senators have been without captain Brady Tkachuk since the third game of the season, as he suffered a thumb injury that required surgery.
▪︎ Ottawa has a nice selection of “he’s still playing?” guys, including David Perron and Lars Eller.
▪︎ The Bruins will be without Hampus Lindholm, who was placed on injured reserve on Sunday (retroactive to October 9). Jonathan Aspirot was recalled from Providence and should be available tonight.
▪︎ Tonight’s game will be an interesting face-off battle, as the Senators have the league’s best win percentage (59.8%) and the Bruins have the second best (56.2%).
▪︎ While the B’s aren’t exactly airtight when it comes to goals against, the Senators are actually worse: they’re 29th in the league in GA/G, allowing 3.89 goals per game. That figure includes a whopping eight goals allowed to the Buffalo Sabres two weeks ago.
▪︎ On the other side of the ice, Ottawa has a very potent power play, converting on 28.1% of their opportunities (sixth-best in the NHL).
Fun fact: tonight’s two head coaches, Travis Green and Marco Sturm, were teammates on the 2005-2006 Bruins! I’m sure this isn’t the first time it’s happened, but it’s kind of cool. What a terrible season that was, eh?
