Bayern Munich youngster Jonah Kusi-Asare’s loan to Fulham could be terminated in January

Jonah Kusi-Asare is the kind of striker every club tries to find nowadays. Huge, lanky but deceptively quick, smooth on the ball and possessing the technical skills of a much smaller players, the young Swede drew the attention of many big clubs at AIK Fotboll before Bayern Munich snatched him up for a big fee. Kusi-Asare struggled to impose himself in Bayerns youth teams, occasionally demonstrating his immense potential but too often going unnoticed during matches. His inclusion in Bayern’s 2025 pre-season changed things, however, as the youngster finally put it all together and scored two wonderful goals. Inquiries came in from Belgium, Germany, the Netherlands…and the Premier League in Fulham, where he would eventually be loaned to for the 2025/26 season with an option buy.

That is all to say that it is clear why Fulham wanted Kusi-Asare. This kind of striker is such a rare find and his performances in pre-season were impressive, so the Londoners likely assumed that they could take their time with the youngster and slowly integrate him on the way to becoming a superstar. The problem is, they overestimated his current level and so Kusi-Asare sits with one Premier League minute to his name as November comes to a close as Fulham manager Marco Silva repeatedly openly remarks that he is not ready for this level.

Clearly, it is not working and so early return for the U-21 Swede international seems likely. So says sources, as captured by @iMiaSanMia:

Jonah Kusi-Asare’s loan deal at Fulham could be terminated in January. The move did not go as Christoph Freund and the player himself had hoped. Manager Marco Silva openly stated that Kusi-Asare wasn’t ready for Premier League football yet. Fulham are already considering signing a new striker in January.

So what now? His contract at Bayern only runs until 2027. Will he be loaned out again to a team in a top 5 league? Maybe a lower division? Perhaps he stays at Bayern to reinforce their offense? One thing is for sure: His future does not seem at Fulham.
