Ex-Everton flop emerges as shock target on Fulham’s January shortlist

Fulham are exploring a move for Fiorentina striker Moise Kean as they look to stave off the threat of relegation.

Manager Marco Silva wanted better forward options last summer and the need remains with Rodrigo Muniz coming back cautiously from a hamstring injury, Samuel Chukwueze soon to be away for Afcon duty and Raul Jimenez, at 34, being carefully managed through a busy fixture period.

Fulham’s hierarchy want to bolster Silva’s armoury as he looks to head off a looming relegation battle.

They are still four points clear of West Ham, who are third from bottom, but know how easy it is to be dragged into a fight for survival as the games come thick and fast.

Wins over Sunderland Spurs have been negated by successive defeats to Manchester City and Crystal Palace and they face a crunch game at Turf Moor against Burnley this weekend.

Fulham have shown interest before in Kean who had an inauspicious spell at Everton under Marco Silva in 2019.

He scored only four goals in three seasons with Everton but went on to re-invent himself at Paris St Germain scoring 17 in 41 games before returning to Juventus then Fiorentina.

He notched 19 Serie A goals last season and that alerted Premier League sides once again who flirted with the prospect of making offers last summer.

Kean, who is under contract until 2029, has scored six goals this campaign but four have come for Italy in World Cup qualifiers against Israel and Estonia.
