Marco Silva eagerly anticipating Man Utd test at Old Trafford, ‘it’s going to be…’

Marco Silva is looking forward to the test that awaits his Fulham players against Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon.

Manchester United are looking to extend their winning run in the Premier League to three matches when they host Fulham at Old Trafford on Sunday.

On top of that, there is a chance to extend their unbeaten run in the league to seven matches, so there’s a lot at stake for Michael Carrick.

Carrick goes into the game after enjoying a 100% record since becoming United head coach earlier this month. That comes after back-to-back wins over Man City and Arsenal, giving Fulham plenty of reason to fear the worst this weekend.

However, Fulham are in good form after recently moving up to seventh in the table.

United would be very naïve to underestimate Marco Silva’s side.

Marco Silva ready for Man Utd ‘test’

It’s probably the worst time of the season to face United, if you try looking at it from the opposition’s perspective.

The team has been given a new lease of life under Carrick, winning consecutive matches and competing in the top four.

United’s problem previously has been throwing away games they should be winning, at least on paper.

Silva is looking forward to going toe-to-toe with United on Sunday.

“Playing against Manchester United, home or away, they are always special and difficult games … at Old Trafford, probably [even] more [difficult],” Silva told reporters at his pre-match press conference, as per Fulham’s official website.

“The environment, for sure, is going to be great, and we like this type of challenge. It’s going to be a great test for ourselves. To test ourselves in these type of places and against sides that are full of motivation, is going to be a great one for us.

“We [will] face it, we go there to really match them, and to do our best to get a good result, understanding all the noise around [Manchester United] and the reaction.”

A win for United would keep the Red Devils in the top four.

Marco Silva record against Man Utd as Fulham manager

Since taking over at Craven Cottage, Silva has managed Fulham in 10 matches against United.

The Red Devils have historically dominated the fixture, but Silva has managed just one win for his efforts.

Fulham lost on six occasions, and the two teams drew three times.

Carrick will be looking to make it three wins on the bounce for United this weekend, which would match Ruben Amorim’s longest winning run at the club. It took the Portuguese coach 47 matches to achieve.
