Fulham could take Taty Castellanos from West Ham – London move possible

Fulham are emerging as a potential landing spot for Taty Castellanos as the striker’s difficult West Ham situation continues to spiral towards a quick exit.

The Argentine only arrived in January, with West Ham paying around £25.5m (€30m) to sign him from Lazio. At the time, the move was framed as a major opportunity ahead of the 2026 World Cup.

A few months later, though, things look very different. West Ham are hanging on the edge of relegation. Castellanos has missed out on Argentina’s World Cup squad. Also, speculation around his future is growing louder almost by the day.

Now there is fresh Premier League interest too.

Fulham enter the picture

Italian journalist Marco Mampreso reports Fulham are interested in Castellanos as the striker looks for a way to remain in England’s top flight.

That detail is important because previous reports heavily focused on Flamengo’s admiration for the player. The Brazilian side have tracked Castellanos for months and continue to monitor his situation closely.

However, the striker’s preference reportedly points towards staying in the Premier League if possible. Earlier this week, we covered reports claiming the player does not have the intention to play in the Championship.

Fulham therefore become a very logical name to watch. Despite uncertainty around Marco Silva’s situation, the West London side are expected to enter another busy summer.

Raúl Jiménez turns 35 this summer, Rodrigo Muniz continues to attract interest from elsewhere, and Fulham are likely to need greater depth and rotation in attack.

Castellanos would also fit stylistically. His pressing intensity, movement across the frontline and aggressive off-ball work have repeatedly been highlighted by Brazilian and Italian coverage over the last few months.

West Ham want to avoid major loss

Despite the growing exit talk, West Ham are reportedly not prepared to simply cut their losses.

According to Mampreso, the Hammers want to recover as much money as possible from the £25.5m (€30m) invested only months ago. If relegation is confirmed, the idea would be to start discussions above £17m (€20m).

That immediately creates an interesting situation. Fulham would potentially get a striker already adapted to English football and still entering his prime years at 27. Meanwhile, West Ham would try to avoid the type of financial hit clubs often suffer after relegation.

Flamengo still there in the background

Fulham may currently have the advantage because Castellanos reportedly wants to stay in the Premier League, but Flamengo have not disappeared from the story.

The Brazilian side already tried to position themselves earlier this year and remain in the market for a centre-forward. Reports from Brazil continue to describe Castellanos as one of the profiles most appreciated internally.

That means this could quickly become a wider market battle if West Ham’s relegation becomes official next weekend.

At the moment, though, Fulham look like the club best placed to take advantage of the situation developing in east London.
