Report: Fulham monitoring 22-year-old as Leeds United and Brighton & Hove Albion prepare bids

Leeds United, Fulham, Brighton & Hove Albion and Brentford linked with Parma defender Mariano Troilo

Leeds United are reportedly monitoring Parma defender Mariano Troilo amid interest from some of their Premier League rivals.

A highly rated centre-back, Troilo started his senior career in his native Argentina with Belgrano before moving to Italy last year.

He started the 2025/26 Serie A campaign on the fringes but ended the campaign as a regular in the Parma backline.

Leeds United ‘monitoring’ defender

According to SportsBoom, Leeds are keeping an eye on the defender ahead of the opening of the summer transfer window.

However, if the Whites do want to add Troilo to their ranks, they could have a battle on their hands.

Fulham and Brighton & Hove Albion are both said to be preparing bids in the region of €15-20m (£12.9m-£17.2m), and Brentford are believed to be among his admirers.

Parma are reportedly set to knock back initial approaches, believing Troilo’s value to be much higher than the mooted sum. Resistance from Parma could make a deal tricky to do, although the lure of the Premier League could prove strong for the player himself.

A high-profile switch could boost his chances of securing an Argentina cap, having been called up to the squad for the first time last year.

Centre-back links

Leeds have been linked with a clutch of centre-backs of late, and it has not come as a surprise. There are doubts over the future of Pascal Struijk and the Dutchman will need replacing if he does seek pastures new.

The importance of the centre-back department to manager Daniel Farke has been increased by his switch to a 3-4-2-1 formation, which has made Leeds look much more assured.

His trio of choice last season consisted of Struijk, Joe Rodon and Jaka Bijol. Sebastiaan Bornauw and full-back James Justin were both used as deputies.
