Go Ahead Eagles say they won’t stand in the way of Celtic target Jakob Breum leaving the club this summer with just a year left on the attacking midfielder’s contract.
As exclusively reported by Stephen McGowan last month , Celtic scouts have continued to monitor Breum’s progress after a number of unsuccessful bids for his signature in the January transfer window.
Go Ahead Eagles technical director Marc van Hintum has now publicly stated the £4million-rated Breum does not want to sign a new deal at the Eredivisie side. As such, they are open to offers for the 22-year-old.
Van Hintum told Dutch outlet VI , “Jakob is only under contract for another year and does not want to sign an extension. That means he is allowed to leave if a good offer comes in, but so far that has not happened. There is nothing concrete happening yet.”
Breum initially broke through as a winger at Danish club Odense in his homeland but has primarily played as a central attack-minded midfielder at Go Ahead Eagles.
He has scored 16 Eredivisie goals, assisting 11, in his last two seasons. Playmaking abilities standout, creating 2.26 chances per 90 minutes last term, which put him in the 90th percentile across the league.
Meanwhile, goalkeeper Jari de Busser will not moving to Celtic after he confirmed a switch from Go Ahead Eagles to AZ Alkmaar this weekend.

The Dutch club had previously been made aware of tentative interest in the shot-stopper from Celtic, who are in the market for a goalkeeper after the retirement of Kasper Schmeichel.
Van Hintum said, “We received a nice transfer fee. Jari has really become a cult hero here. He’s a fantastic goalkeeper who has developed tremendously in recent years, not just on the field, but also in the locker room. AZ is a fantastic move for him.”
The first wave of Celtic players report back to Lennoxtown on Friday for initial pre-season fitness evaluations.
