Fulham picked up their first point under the new head coach, following three Premier League defeats in a row – and reports of discontent among some of the players.
“I’m happy with the point, but more with the performance of my players and the way that they play with the character, the personality, the ambition I saw here in this stadium,” said Arbeloa.
“I know that everything in football is about points, it’s about the points that you get, it’s not about what you deserve.
“After the Crystal Palace game, I think my players realised how important it is to attack well. But also the defence, when you lose the ball and control the transition.
“We were more balanced today, we defended so well. I think this is the way.
“We could have scored one or two goals and we were a little bit unlucky. But if we continue playing in this way, I think we will win games.”
David Affengruber impressed on his Premier League debut, and helped limit chances for Liverpool’s talented front line.
“Yes, a difficult game for him. First game here in the Premier League, at Anfield, but he proved how good he is,” said Arbeloa.
“I knew the personality that he has and the character and he’s very good with the ball, but also is really powerful and he’s very intelligent, so I’m so happy with him.”
