Brighton are “relaxed” about the long-term future of manager Fabian Hurzeler amid an impressive start to the season, sources have told Football Insider.
The German has been heavily linked with the Manchester United job in recent weeks, but the Seagulls have had “no contact” from any other club at this stage.
Hurzeler’s stock has risen dramatically in recent months, but Brighton have him tied down under contract until the summer of 2029.
Sources say that the South Coast outfit are not worried about the prospect of the 33-year-old leaving any time soon, although they are “not surprised” by the interest.
His side are currently sitting third in the Premier League table after the opening seven games, and have lost just once in the league so far.
Hurzeler has been the mastermind behind their impressive start to the campaign, and is currently striking a good balance with their UEFA Conference League push.
Brighton haven’t conceded in six hours of football
Brighton’s eye-catching start to the season hit a new level when they smashed their bitter rivals Crystal Palace 5-0 at the Amex Stadium on Sunday.
That comfortable victory now stands the Seagulls as the Premier League’s leading scorers so far this term, with 23 strikes to their name already.
However, it is their efforts at the other end of the pitch that have arguably been even more impressive.
Sunday’s win over Palace saw them notch their fourth successive clean sheet in the Premier League, meaning they have now gone through over six hours of league football without conceding.
Leeds defender Jayden Bogle was the last man to breach their defence in the Premier League way back on 5 September, and they are level with Arsenal as the league’s tightest defence at the moment.
That all serves to boost Hurzeler’s stock higher than it has ever been before, and if that continues, then further interest in his services is highly likely.
Brighton believe they have another £100m talent
Football Insider revealed last week that Brighton believe that centre-back Luka Vuskovic can develop into a £100million player in the coming years.
They splashed out £46m to sign the 19-year-old from Tottenham in the summer, and he has already become one of the first names on the team sheet for them.
Vuskovic is already attracting interest from Bayern Munich, but sources say that Brighton are “relaxed” about his long-term future at the moment.
They sold Moises Caicedo to Chelsea for a fee of over £100m back in 2023, and they now feel that Vuskovic could soon breach that barrier as well.
