Wolves stance over Dan Bentley transfer now emerges amid surprise Arsenal interest

It was claimed over the weekend that the 30-year-old is someone on Arsenal’s radar, as they seek to sign back-up for David Raya.

The Gunners are looking to sell Aaron Ramsdale this summer, as seemingly the club cannot really keep him as their number two.

Bentley has been with Wolves since January 2023, joining from Bristol City. He has made nine appearances to date, and has been an important addition to the dressing room.

Following the reports of Arsenal’s interest, there is now word on how Wolves feel about a potential deal.

Wolves ‘not interested’ in losing Dan Bentley and will only sell for ‘suitable offer’ amid Arsenal interest

The Athletic last night backed up the interest from Arsenal in Bentley.

Apparently, Wolves are ‘not interested’ in selling the 30-year-old this summer. But it is mentioned that that would change if they were to receive a suitable offer that would allow them to reinvest.

Bentley is said to be a highly valued member of the Wolves squad.

There is no suggestion at the moment how much Wolves would demand for Bentley.

We saw them take a similar stance over Max Kilman, of course, the captain ended up being sold once a satisfactory offer came in from West Ham United.

Wolves have been linked with new goalkeepers over the last few months or so, the latest being Kasper Schmeichel.

Most of them have been suggested as possible replacements for Molineux number one Jose Sa.

O’Neil will not want to lose Bentley

It is hard to see how O’Neil would be comfortable with losing Bentley this summer.

He is very good in the number two role at Molineux, and the manager did say earlier this year that he felt there wasn’t much of a gap now between him and Sa.

He values what Bentley brings to the table.

He may not have totally convinced when he has actually played. But Bentley has undoubtedly been a solid addition to the dressing room.

The £10,000-a-week star is a member of the leadership group and is always talking about pushing Sa, which is exactly what you need from your number two. Tom King recently described him as ‘an unbelievable guy’.

We will now wait and see what Bentley will want to do. Playing for a club like Arsenal is potentially going to appeal, especially since he used to actually play in the Gunners’ academy.
