Green Bay Packers Will 100% Sign Star For Jordan Love After He Refused To Sign Long-Term Contract With Current Team

The Green Bay Packers have put themselves in position to be competitive for a very long time. They are one of the youngest teams in the NFL and are widely considered to be a Super Bowl contender this year (at least a dark horse candidate).

This off-season proved the Packers are not afraid to dip into free agency. The team signed arguably the two best free agents this off-season at their respective positions in Josh Jacobs and Xavier McKinney.

However, according to one report they will be adding another super star in the very near future.

According to Marissa Myers of TWSN:

Tee Higgins has played a crucial role in the Cincinnati Bengals’ offense since being drafted in 2020. Ian Rapoport further provided clarity to the current contract situation that ahead of the extension deadline, the Bengals and Higgins will not get one done, and he will play the season on the franchise tag.

After the season, he will become a free agent, and the team that will sign him is the Green Bay Packers.

For when Higgins enters free agency, he will have plenty of teams trying to sign him due to his ability to be a top wide receiver on an offense. While he will have his options on where to sign, it’s the Green Bay Packers that make the most sense.

The Packers have the factors to draw Higgins to signing. Jordan Love may not be Joe Burrow, but he is definitely a rising star quarterback that has the potential to develop even further. Higgins would be a big factor in helping with that. Looking ahead to 2025, they have the cap space with $47 million to work with to get the deal done with Higgins that would be necessary as well.

For Green Bay, Higgins is the receiver they need on the offense. They currently don’t have that number one threat and Higgins would automatically slot in as that and be a go-to target for Love. Not to mention with his downfield threat ability and size to box defenders out creates even more appeal towards signing him.

A room of Higgins, Christian Watson, Jayden Reed, and Romeo Doubs would be a boost for the offense and give Love the confidence he needs in his receiving room for years to come.

Tee Higgins will be 26 entering the 2025-26 NFL season. If the Packers feel the need to address the wide receiver position next off-season he would certainly fit the youth narrative that seems to be evident in Green Bay.

However, the Packers currently have a ton of depth at the WR position. Christian Watson, Romeo Doubs, Jayden Reed, Dontayvion Wicks, and even Bo Melton have all established a role in the Packers’ offense.

Yes, Higgins is likely better than a few of those players, however, the Packers’ front office has made it clear they want this group to gel for years to come. Would the Packers want to keep their core together who has been gelling with Love for two years? Or bring in a proven star to add another elite weapon?

Time will tell.
