The Philadelphia 76ers unveiled new superstar recruit Paul George on Tuesday. Naturally, the nine-time All-Star had to field all sorts of questions about the journey he took to get to Philadelphia. This, of course, includes how he had to part ways with the Clippers after an ultimately unsuccessful five-year stint.
George was brutally honest in his statement.
George has made it abundantly clear that his divorce with the Clippers was mutual and that there’s no bad blood between both parties. The 34-year-old doubled down on this statement again on Tuesday, while also revealing the primary motivation behind his decision to move on.
“Amazing time there. No regrets,” he said. “… They gave me an opportunity to play at home.
“… There’s no ill will. Again, forever grateful for the opportunity that they gave me to come back. It didn’t work out, that’s business. I had to make the right decision for my family.”

According to George, the decision to take his talents to the Sixers was motivated primarily by his desire to give his family a better life. While the former Most Improved Player of the Year winner did not explain exactly what he meant here, it would probably be safe to assume that he took the better offer in free agency for his family.
In the end, that came out to a $211 million contract, which is more than enough to secure the future of any family.
