Jerry Jones Clarifies Controversial Comments About CeeDee Lamb’s Contract

Ever since the Dallas Cowboys were dominated by the Green Bay Packers in the first round of the NFL playoffs last season, the team has received nothing but negative attention for failing to come through in the postseason yet again and seeming like an organization that has no idea what it is doing in the front office.

Although the Cowboys could be in a championship window right now, Dallas is facing some tough challenges, with their three best players up for lucrative long-term contract extensions, resulting in superstar wide receiver CeeDee Lamb holding out of training camp recently.

Along with star quarterback Dak Prescott and linebacker Micah Parsons, who is arguably a generational talent, Lamb is looking to get paid, rightfully so, after such an impressive 2023 campaign.

However, longtime team owner and general manager Jerry Jones recently made some regrettable comments when asked about Lamb’s contract extension by claiming there’s no urgency to get anything done, which didn’t sit well with the receiver or the avid fan base.

With Jones getting so much backlash for these questionable comments, the soon-to-be 82-year-old seems to be backtracking and apologizing for the mishap via Jori Epstein of Yahoo Sports.

“I understand completely the angst that’s happening (about) whether you’re missed or not. Well, CeeDee: You’re missed,” Jones said.

It seems as though the Cowboys front office has done nothing to put the minds of the team’s fans at ease heading into the 2024 NFL season, as there’s no telling when Lamb or Prescott will get extensions, let alone Parsons.

With so many off-the-field distractions, only time will tell how the Cowboys’ upcoming season will pan out.
