Rams Linebacker Has Been Granted Permission To Seek A Trade

We’re just a couple of days away from the NFL’s deadline to trim the rosters.

The final roster cuts are just around the corner, so any big-time move might have to happen sooner rather than later so teams can accommodate their roster accordingly.

Notably, that has put the Los Angeles Rams in a bit of a tough spot regarding LB Ernest Jones IV.

According to a report by Jeremy Fowler of ESPN, the Rams have granted the disgruntled linebacker and his camp permission to seek a trade.

The veteran linebacker is entering the final year of his current contract and is reportedly not happy with the way negotiations have taken place.

Needless to say, this is a major surprise, considering he’s the team’s defensive signal-caller and one of their captains.

The 24-year-old was a third-round pick out of South Carolina three years ago, and he’s become one of the most prominent names on Sean McVay’s team.

He’s coming off a career-best season, logging 145 tackles, six passes defensed, six QB hits, and 4.5 sacks across 15 appearances.

The Rams had made it loud and clear that they didn’t intend to give him a new contract this season, thus forcing him to play out his rookie deal.

He had also been vocal regarding his frustration over this situation, but he had also stated that he would only control what he could control.

Now, he could be on his way out, and with him gone and Aaron Donald’s retirement, the Rams’ defense will most definitely take a big hit in 2024.
