Entering his 20th season in the NFL, many fans and analysts alike have voiced concerns about New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers’ ability to perform as he turns 41 in November.
However, one group that clearly is not concerned is the Jets’ front office, specifically general manager Joe Douglas. Douglas recently spoke about Rodgers and his ability to take command of the offense.
“He’s amazing,” Douglas said. “I mean, obviously a first-team Hall of Famer and there’s days where he just goes out there and he just doesn’t miss. Just the command he has with the offense, the ability to get the offense into the right play against the right defense, the accuracy, the delivery, the leadership, and also having a great room.”
While the Jets and their fans are certainly looking forward to seeing Rodgers take the field in 2024, many are likely concerned with his durability, as he suffered a season-ending Achilles injury just minutes into his first game with the team last year.
Earlier in the week, Douglas spoke on the Jets as a team and their mentality heading into 2024.
“I feel like this is a team that’s ready to win, and I feel that work that everybody’s put in, staff, the football operations staff, coaching staff, players … this, this has been a really good training camp,” said Douglas.
Rodgers and the Jets will look to make the playoffs for the first time since 2010 as they begin their season against the San Francisco 49ers on Monday.
