What Nick De Marco said to Leicester City fans after winning PSR case against Premier League

Leicester City have avoided punishment from the Premier League following a PSR charge being brought against them.

The Foxes have one less thing to worry about in their fight for relegation following news that emerged on Tuesday evening.

Earlier this year, the Premier League charged Leicester City with a breach of their spending rules in the three-year period leading up the the 2022/23 season.

The Midlands outfit appealed the decision and received the verdict of their appeal this week.

In a major boost for Steve Cooper, as Leicester were in the Championship at the time, an independent panel found that the Premier League did not have the jurisdiction to punish the club.

It has since emerged that the Premier League may change their PSR rules because of Leicester.

Nick De Marco sends message to Leicester City fans

The man who led the charge for Leicester in their appeal against the Premier League was Nick De Marco.

De Marco is a renowned sports barrister and represented the Foxes as they attempted to avoid a points deduction.

De Marco has previously helped the likes of Sheffield Wednesday and Newcastle United and, after winning his latest case, the lawyer has taken to X/Twitter to send a message to the Leicester fanbase following the support he has received.

He wrote: “Thank you for all the kind messages I have seen about this interesting case.

“But I must emphasise that, first, cases are generally won or lost based on the quality of argument & evidence, not the identity of the advocate. None of us are miracle workers.

“Second, LCFC had a great team that I was just one part of: my juniors David Lowe & Marlena Valles, the great team at Centrefield (especially Stuart, Philip & Alice) and the brilliant & lovely in house team at LCFC itself.”

Leicester City may still struggle to avoid relegation

While the club are no longer facing a points deduction, the threat of relegation still looms at the King Power Stadium.

Leicester drew with Tottenham Hotspur on the opening weekend of the campaign but have struggled since.

Cooper watched his side lose to Fulham in game week two before being bested by Aston Villa this past weekend.

Villa and Spurs are both top sides so any points rescued against those teams was a bonus.

However, the Fulham defeat and the manner in which they lost to Unai Emery’s side will be concerning.

Leicester fans were left frustrated by Cooper after his selection choice for the club’s most recent tie, which they may have won or at least drawn if different decisions were made.

After a loss at the weekend though, the newly-promoted outfit sit 15th in the Premier League table with an away meeting with Crystal Palace next up.
