BOSTON — The Celtics remain one win away from their 18th title in franchise history as they take on the Mavericks for Game 5. There’s a chance Kristaps Porzingis is able to suit up once again as he’s listed as questionable on the injury report ahead of the 8:30 p.m. Monday game at TD Garden.
Porzingis remains on the injury report due to the left posterior tibialis dislocation injury he suffered in Game 2 of the Finals. Technically, Porzingis was active and dressed for the blowout Game 4 loss to the Mavericks. C’s coach Joe Mazzulla said he’d only play in very specific situations, though, so it’s unclear if Porzingis is actually able to play any meaningful minutes.
The Celtics are coming off a blowout Game 4 loss to the Mavericks, which dropped them to a 3-1 series lead. But the C’s are still in firm control of the Finals as they’re only one win away from Banner No. 18. They have the perfect chance to close out the series on their home court in Game 5.
Despite being so close to a championship, the C’s don’t look like they’ve skipped any steps even despite the massive loss last time out. Regardless, all they can focus on is Game 5. They’ll hope Porzingis is able to play to get them back closer to full strength.
