Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua meeting set at Wembley Stadium after Eddie Hearn admission

Anthony Joshua could be greeted by Tyson Fury at Wembley this weekend.

The Watford-born heavyweight known as ‘AJ’ by fans will face 27-year-old Daniel Dubois in front of a potentially record-breaking crowd in attendance at Wembley Stadium. However, countryman and potential future opponent Fury will also be in attendance.

In an Instagram post, Gold Star promotion confirmed Fury will be among the ‘pre-fight party’ based at BOXPARK alongside the likes of British boxing legends Ricky Hatton, Amir Khan, and Derek Chisora, as well as recent opponent Oleksandr Usyk, which no doubt will provide interesting viewing.

The promotional post was captioned: “It’s more than just a fight night—it’s a full-on boxing experience! Enjoy live music, a food hall, beer & drinks, a VIP area with meet & greet, live Q&A, photo ops, memorabilia, a live auction, and special guests!”

Fury is expected to make his appearance at 2:30 pm on fight night (Saturday, 21 September), where fans will get a chance to meet and chat with the former unified heavyweight champion. Fury is yet to fight since his most recent loss in Riyadh against Usyk four months ago. This will provide the self-proclaimed ‘Gypsy King’ with a chance to get his name back among the media’s gaze.

As ever with such occasions, anything can happen and it would be no surprise if we see Joshua and Fury nose to nose in the centre of the ring with promoters Eddie Hearn and Frank Warren waxing lyrical about a proposed fight expected to be back by Saudi Arabian minister Turki Al-Sheikh.

Hearn discussed the potential British clash recently: “I do think AJ-Fury will happen regardless of whether Fury wins or not, but the size of the fight depends on their next two results,” he told BBC Sport.

He added: “If AJ beats Dubois and Fury beats Usyk, you’ve got the biggest fight in the history of the sport ever. If one loses and the other wins, it’s still a monster fight.”

Anthony Joshua vs Daniel Dubois will be broadcast live on DAZN pay-per-view.
