AFC Bournemouth vs Chelsea final injury news with 10 players ruled out of action

Chelsea head into their upcoming clash against AFC Bournemouth off the back of their 3-1 loss away at Leeds United last time out. The Blues slumped to a disappointing defeat at Elland Road and will want to bounce back as soon as possible. Pedro Neto got their goal against the Whites in West Yorkshire.

Enzo Maresca’s side are positioned in 4th place in the Premier League table after their first 14 fixtures. They are inside the top four along with Arsenal, Manchester City and Aston Villa. Here is a look at their latest injury news ahead of their match against the Cherries….

AFC Bournemouth injury news

Starting with the hosts, Bournemouth are without winger Ben Gannon-Doak after he sustained a hamstring injury playing for Scotland in their World Cup qualifier against Denmark at Hampden Park. His boss Andoni Iraola has shared this update regarding his condition: “Ben has a hamstring injury, it’s a bad one, and he will be out for some time. Today, we had a consult with a surgeon to see if it’s something that has to go through surgery, or we could go more conservative. Ben will be out for some months, which is really bad news.”

Ryan Christie also suffered a setback playing for the Scots last month and is sidelined until later this month. Meanwhile, the Cherries pair Lewis Cook and Tyler Adams are both suspended and won’t be able to play against Chelsea which isn’t ideal for the Dorset outfit. Matai Akinmboni is in the treatment room still and hasn’t had much luck since his transfer from DC United just over 12 months ago. Marcos Senesi and David Brooks are available after serving their suspensions against Everton.

Chelsea injury news

Chelsea midfielder Moises Caicedo still has two more games to sit out of. He was sent off against Arsenal in their last home outing. Attacking midfielder Cole Palmer returned off the bench against Leeds and is back fit again which is a major boost.

Defender Levi Colwill won’t be seen until next term. Maresca has said: “Levi has today undergone successful surgery [for] an ACL injury. Medical assessments confirmed surgery would be the required course of action. Levi will now begin his recovery and be supported by the medical department at Cobham during his rehab phase.”

Dario Essugo and Romeo Lavia are still unavailable, whilst Mykhailo Mudryk is suspended. Maresca said in his pre-Bournemouth press conference that there are no new injuries. Reece James was left on the bench against Leeds and will need to be assessed over the next 24 hours or so to determine whether he can feature against the Cherries.

Andrey Santos was given the nod by the Blues in their last game in the middle of the park alongside Enzo Fernandez. They missed the influence of Caicedo though and his absence is a blow. Nevertheless, the London club will still fancy their chances of a positive result against Iraola’s men.

Out: Gannon-Doak, Christie, Cook, Adams, Akinmboni, Caicedo, Colwill, Essugo, Lavia, Mudryk
