There was a lot of preseason hype about the Boston Red Sox’s ability to produce high numbers at the plate.
Within the first handful of games this season, that hype went down the drain due to the continuous bad performances of designated hitter Rafael Devers and third baseman Alex Bregman. Left fielder Wilyer Abreu and rookie second baseman Kristian Campbell are the main contributors to the offense.
As the Red Sox continued to find ways to win and get better, so did their main stars. Thursday’s 8-4 win at the Baltimore Orioles was a big sign that the offense could be setting up to be leveled out after a rough start to the season.
Boston accounted for eight runs and 11 hits, but it was highlighted by the fact that Devers and Bregman had their best games of the season.
Devers accounted for two runs, one hit, one walk, and had one strikeout. Bregman accounted for two runs (including a home run), three hits, three RBIs, and two strikeouts.
After the game, the Red Sox manager talked about the stars finding their rhythm after a rough start to the season.
We will hit. It’s just a matter of time. Getting locked in. Alex hitting the ball in the air to the pull. It’s a tough group. We hot some balls hard throughout the game, and struck out a lot too. It was a good game.

The team finally secured their first series win of the season, but remains under .500 after the first seven games. Despite this, there’s room for improvement, especially with 11 strikeouts on Thursday. More consistency from the other key players would go a long way.
