Amadou Onana injury update as Aston Villa without seven players for Nottingham Forest

Unai Emery hopes to have Pau Torres and Tyrone Mings back from injury within the next fortnight, but Amadou Onana could face a longer spell on the sidelines.

Both left-sided centre-backs, Torres and Mings, have been nursing injuries, with Victor Lindelof stepping in during their absence.

Mings has been unavailable since Villa’s trip to Liverpool at the start of November, where he suffered a hamstring injury.

Torres, meanwhile, has not featured since being withdrawn in the second half against Arsenal and has missed the last five matches against Basel, West Ham, Manchester United, Chelsea, and Arsenal.

Onana, meanwhile, was forced off at half-time during Villa’s match at the Emirates Stadium on Tuesday night.

“They are not available for tomorrow: Tyrone Mings, Pau Torres, Amadou Onana, Ross Barkley, Harvey Elliott, Evann Guessand, and Alysson,” Emery confirmed.

“When they are expected to come back with the team, I don’t know. Onana got injured on Tuesday; Pau got injured one month ago.

“Pau maybe is [back] in one or or two weeks, and Mings as well. Onana, more.”

However, Villa will be able to call on Boubacar Kamara and Matty Cash after they missed the defeat at Arsenal due to suspension, after both collected their fifth bookings of the campaign in the 2-1 win at Chelsea last weekend.

Ross Barkley is also injured, as he continues to recover from a knee problem, while Evann Guessand is unavailable as he is representing Ivory Coast at AFCON in Morocco.
