Amadou Onana sale timeline shared as personal terms agreed for Everton exit

Amadou Onana is expected to complete the formalities of his move from Everton to Aston Villa by Friday, according to iNews.

Mark Douglas reported for the newspaper’s website on Thursday (18 July) that the Belgium international has agreed personal terms at Villa Park and only the finer details now remain to be sorted.

Telegraph reporter John Percy shared on Wednesday (17 July) that Onana is pencilled in for a medical this weekend ahead of a £50million move.

Everton sacrifice Onana for Branthwaite

As talented a player as Onana is, Everton remain in possession of their biggest asset in Branthwaite and have refused to be bullied by the vigorous levels of interest from Manchester United.

They will be ultimately glad they have done so – the Toffees and Sean Dyche knew they would have to sacrifice a key player in the squad with a hefty market value, and Onana can be wished a fond farewell as he departs to fulfil his Champions League ambition.

In reality, Everton are receiving a good end of the deal – as much potential as Onana has shown, his inconsistency has frustrated the Goodison Park crowd at times and the sum the club will receive can be reinvested into key areas of the squad.

Dyche manages best through a solidified unit rather than relying on individual players and moments, and the fee recouped on the Belgian will go a long way to sprinkling improvement over the team and steadily rising up the table.

Unless Erik ten Hag’s side return with a bid north of £80m, expect now to see Branthwaite spend another campaign in Everton blue and visiting Onana’s Villa team on 14 September.
