One of the Raiders’ fatal flaws this season has been a completely ineffective run game. Las Vegas ranks 31st with 79 rushing yards per game this season, and regardless of who has started at running back, the team has struggled on the ground.
In recent weeks, Alexander Mattison has claimed the starting role over Zamir White, and according to head coach Antonio Pierce, we shouldn’t expect that to change anytime soon.
Pierce: Alexander Mattison will remain Raiders' starting RB.

Zamir White is now healthy, but his inefficiency hasn’t significantly threatened Mattison’s workload. According to Pierce, “We saw some positives from [White] last year … He’s just got to get out of his funk.”
Mattison finished with 15 rushing yards on 14 attempts against the Chiefs last week, posting an ugly 1.1 YPC average. As a team, the Raiders garnered just 33 yards on 21 attempts (1.6 YPC).
The Raiders have a softer matchup this week against the Bengals, and Pierce hopes Mattison can produce more on the ground as the team hopes to get back in the win column following four straight losses.
