Sportextra has been informed that Aston Villa has engaged in further discussions with Harry Wilson’s representatives as they continue their pursuit of the Fulham star.
The Wales international is approaching the end of his current contract at Craven Cottage, and, as things stand, he will be available on a Bosman deal in July.
Fulham are unsurprisingly desperate to tie the 29-year-old down to a new deal; however, he has several suitors in the Premier League following a blistering campaign in which he has scored 10 goals and provided six assists in 29 English top-flight appearances.
We have been told that Aston Villa have offered Wilson a three-year contract with a very attractive salary, and discussions are ongoing ahead of a potential move to the Birmingham outfit during the upcoming summer transfer window.
Villa have identified the 29-year-old as one of their top transfer targets for this summer, and although an agreement has not yet been reached, Sportextra understands that further talks have taken place in recent days, with Unai Emery’s side keen to finalise a deal shortly.
Exclusive: Aston Villa in Harry Wilson talks
Wilson has been one of the standout players in the entirety of the Premier League this season, and he appears ideally suited to playing as a right midfielder or a No. 10 in Emery’s preferred system at Villa Park.
The Wales international was also on Aston Villa’s transfer radar during the recent January window; however, Fulham were reluctant to sanction a sale, so they eventually opted to bolster their center- forward ranks with the signing of Tammy Abraham instead.
Everton and Wrexham have been linked with a move for Wilson recently too, as they eye a high-profile Bosman deal, although Villa are determined to win the race for his signature and could be able to offer him Champions League football if they enjoy a successful end to the season.
