Aston Villa have one of the best center backs in the Premier League in Pau Torres, who joined the club from Villarreal, where he won the Europa League under current Villa manager Unai Emery.
The Spanish national team manager is looking to recruit more top players to Aston Villa with the Champions League ahead in 2024/25, and while most of the names have been star attackers, there should be plenty of focus on top talents in defense.
According to a report from L’Equipe, Aston Villa are now among the clubs interested in signing Nice center back Jean-Clair Todibo, who has also been linked with top Premier League sides Tottenham and Manchester United.
Todibo has been generating interest on the transfer market for months, and, now, Aston Villa and the others have the opportunity to sign him on the cheap for just 25 million euros.
The low price is likely because INEOS are thinking of backing out of Nice, having just purchased Manchester United from the Glazers this year.
That could lead Todibo to the Man United track, which was heavily rumored this past winter, but the likes of Tottenham and Aston Villa should clearly not give up.
Todibo has been one of the better center backs in European football for the past couple of years, and the Frenchman could be an absolute transfer steal for Aston Villa this summer.
Even with a bidding war, Todibo could cost 30 million euros or even less, given Nice want so little for him. He is the kind of center back capable of starting in the Champions League, which is what Aston Villa are looking for.
Plus, at the age of 24, Todibo has yet to enter his prime, and he and Torres would combine to form one of the best young center back pairings in the English top flight.
