After a disappointing 2023 campaign marred by injuries that resulted in the Cincinnati Bengals missing the NFL playoffs entirely, the team hopes to have a bounce-back season in 2024, especially with a newly re-signed Joe Burrow healthy and back under center.
Although the team took care of the face of the franchise during this NFL offseason, which was the team’s primary objective, and understandably so, superstar wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase remains without a new deal, which could become a distraction during training camp for the Bengals.
With Chase proving to be among the elite wide receivers in the game and having incredible chemistry with fellow LSU alum Burrow, the Bengals brass would be wise to secure his long-term future with the team.
There is little margin for error for the Bengals moving forward as Cincinnati plays in arguably the toughest division (AFC North) in the NFL right now, with the Baltimore Ravens looking like they’ll be a perennial Super Bowl title contender as long as Lamar Jackson is healthy.
Bengals team owner Mike Brown addressed Chase’s current contract situation and how they’ll do everything they can do in order to get him signed, but wouldn’t give a timetable for when that will take place, according to Olivia Ray of WLWT.
“We are going to bend over backwards to make it happen. I can’t tell you when it’s going to get done,” Brown said.

Chase has made the Pro Bowl in all three seasons that he’s played for the Bengals since getting drafted out of LSU with the No. 5 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.
Last season, Chase caught a career-high 100 passes for 1,216 receiving yards and seven touchdowns.
