Atlanta Braves outfielder Ronald Acuña Jr. was named the National League Comeback Player of the Year, announced Thursday at the MLB Awards.
The 27-year-old returned from a torn ACL that prematurely ended his 2024 season and hit 21 home runs and a .935 OPS in 95 games. Acuña also won National League Comeback Player honors through the MLBPA Players Choice awards.
Acuña accumulated 3.1 bWAR, the fourth-best mark of his career. His 467-foot leadoff home run in his first game back sent a shockwave throughout baseball; a moment he considers the best in his career thus far.
With his win, Acuña becomes the fifth Brave to earn the NL Comeback Player of the Year Award, following Chris Sale (2024), Josh Donaldson (2019), Jonny Venters (2018) and Tim Hudson (2010).
No organization has produced more winners.
Texas Rangers right-hander Jacob deGrom was named the Comeback Player of the Year for the American League.
