After all the drama and speculation, the 49ers and Brandon Aiyuk have agreed to terms on a new long-term deal. And it’s a big one.
Reports emerged Thursday afternoon that the San Francisco 49ers and Aiyuk have agreed to a four-year, $120 million contract extension, locking him in with the team through the 2029 season. The deal also includes $76 million in guarantees. No further details are provided at this time.
Both sides have been in contract talks since the conclusion of Super Bowl LVIII, with a deal reportedly close to being done after the 2024 NFL Draft. However, the market changed, forcing both sides to seriously reevaluate their futures together all the way into training camp.
But in the end, the result is the same as previous contract disputes: Brandon Aiyuk will remain a 49er for the long haul.

More on 49ers WR Brandon Aiyuk
Brandon Aiyuk, 26, had been in a contract saga with the Red & Gold since the conclusion of the 2023 season. The Rocklin native posted career numbers last season, making his first All-Pro team. He also finished second in yards per catch (17.9) in the NFL.
The 49ers have a history of getting deals done leading into training camp (Deebo Samuel, Nick Bosa). Many signs had pointed to the same outcome occurring with Aiyuk and his agents this offseason.
Reports indicated a deal was near completion at the conclusion of April and May. But then things changed, with the WR market exploding around the 49ers. That, in turn, led to a change of heart by Aiyuk, seeking market value for his talents.
As of the start of training camp, both sides were at an impasse, with the Red & Gold unwilling to meet their players’ demands.
Despite this, the 49ers have been reluctant to deal their wideout, seeing his as a core piece of the future. Repots stated the Red & Gold were looking for a first-round pick, plus more, to consider trading Aiyuk during the 2024 Draft.
But once the player decided to report to training camp and hold in, many expected the sides to work out a deal. That was not the case however, with both sides at odds the past few weeks. That forced both parties to seek other options elsewhere, with trade frameworks worked out for potential suitors.
But at the 11th hour, both Aiyuk and the 49ers came to reconciliation, keeping them together for the foreseeable future.
