Browns have received a harsh warning regarding rumors about No. 2 overall pick

The Cleveland Browns have eased off the notion that they have to draft a quarterback at No. 2 later this month.

A few weeks back, it was almost a certainty that they would take either Shedeur Sanders or Cam Ward with the second pick on April 24, based on who Tennessee selected at No. 1.

The news is that the Titans like Ward at No. 1, and Sanders’ draft stock has fallen over the past few weeks. It’s no longer a certainty that Cleveland picks him or any other quarterback at No. 2.

As a matter of fact, a defensive player is now the betting favorite to go to the Browns with that selection.

ESPN Draft analyst Matt Miller agrees that picking Sanders at No. 2 is a reach, and he noted that on 92.3 The Fan recently.

“I would not reach for Shedeur Sanders,” Miller said on the Ken Carman Show with Anthony Lima. “I would not reach out to Will Campbell. I think you stay there, and if you don’t take Travis Hunter, you take Abdul Carter … the move for the Browns is just take a good football player and not overthink this thing.”

It’s widely thought that Carter is the best non-QB player in this year’s draft, with Hunter not far behind. Carter is the betting favorite to go to the Browns at No. 2, but one has to imagine either Carter or Hunter would have an immediate impact on the team.

And make a splash with the fanbase – which is something the Browns desperately need.
