Browns Worked Out Former Panthers RB Today

The Cleveland Browns, if completely healthy, could be a true threat in the AFC.

When it comes to threats, there might not be a bigger threat on Cleveland’s offense than Pro Bowl running back Nick Chubb.

Chubb, who missed almost the entire 2023 season due to a major knee injury back in Week 2, is trying his best to get back to being 100%.

While the team awaits Chubb, they recently worked out a veteran running back.

According to insider Aaron Wilson, the Browns worked out former Carolina Panthers back Spencer Brown.

At the beginning of training camp, these kinds of moves are common for most teams, especially when the team is not at full strength.

The Browns have plenty of veteran backs on the roster, including Jerome Ford, D’Onta Foreman, and Nyheim Hines, so it isn’t like Brown, if signed, would make a massive difference on the roster.

Brown went undrafted out of UAB in 2021 but found his way to Carolina where he stayed for three years.

The former All-CUSA back played in six games total during his Carolina tenure.

He put up nine total rushes for 43 yards, along with two receptions for 10 yards in those six games.

Again, he is not a superstar back who could challenge Chubb or any other top backups on the roster if he were to be signed.

But, NFL teams do not stop when it comes to searching for competition and ways to make them deeper.

Time will tell on whether or not the Browns decide to take a chance on Brown after the workout.
