Caitlin Clark Reacts To Indiana Fever’s New Head Coach

Less than a week after the Indiana Fever fired head coach Christie Sides, Caitlin Clark and company already have a new leader for the 2025 season.

On Friday afternoon, the Fever announced that they had hired Stephanie White as their new head coach. White, who has coached the Connecticut Sun over the past two seasons, will be returning to Indiana, an organization she spent four years with as a player (2000-2004) and multiple years as a head and assistant coach (2011-2016).

The Fever took to social media to announce their new hiring with a post. Clark followed up by sharing it on her own story.

“We have named Stephanie White as our next head coach,” the Fever captioned the post. “Welcome home, Stephanie White!”

Over the past two seasons with the Sun, White has tallied an overall record of 55-25. Both 2023 and 2024 ended with a semifinal loss to the eventual runners-up. White did, however, win the 2023 WNBA Coach of the Year award.

As the head coach in Indiana in 2015 and 2016, White, a former Purdue Boilermaker, posted a 37-31 record, leading her squads to two playoff appearances, one of which ended with a WNBA Finals loss.

White is joining a team that has a promising future with multiple young stars in Clark and forward Aliyah Boston. The organization has also expressed interest in bringing back guard Kelsey Mitchell, whose contract ended following the season. Even more so, Indiana could have enough cap space to acquire another big talent in free agency or via trade.

The Fever’s 2024 season came to an end two games into the postseason, their first playoff appearance since 2016, which happened to be the last year White coached the team. In fact, White was the very coach who eliminated Clark from her first postseason.

Now, the two are teaming up, and the future looks even brighter in Indianapolis.
