Canucks place Guillaume Brisebois and Jett Woo on waivers

As first reported by Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman, the Vancouver Canucks have placed Guillaume Brisebois and Jett Woo on waivers.

If both players clear, they will report to the Canucks’ American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate the Abbotsford Canucks.

Woo signed a one-year, two-way contract extension with Vancouver in July with an average annual value (AAV) of $775,000 and $150,000 in the AHL.

The 23-year-old spent the 2023-24 season with Abbotsford posting a career-best 31 points in 62 games. Of that, his 24 assists are more than any output he has ever had in four career pro hockey seasons. Woo previously set a career-high of 21 points in 68 games during the 2022-23 campaign. Throughout his AHL tenure, Woo has tallied 65 points in 200 games over parts of five seasons with the Utica Comets and Abbotsford.

Brisebois is currently in the second year of a two-year contract with an AAV of $775,000. The 27-year-old appeared in just seven games with Abbotsford last season. The year prior, Brisebois played 17 games with the Canucks last season, scoring a goal and two assists.

The Longueuil, Quebec native has spent his entire NHL career with Vancouver since going 66th overall in 2015, recording three points in 27 games over five seasons.

Brisebois has spent the majority of his pro career in the AHL, registering 14 goals and adding 46 assists for 60 points over 249 games.
