The Dallas Cowboys enter the 2024 NFL season with a lot on their contractual to-do list. Quarterback Dak Prescott is in the last true year of his deal and is set to hit free agency next season in the first of four “void” years on his contract. Meanwhile, CeeDee Lamb is in the final year of his rookie contract and is seeking a long-term extension, and on the horizon is Micah Parsons’ contract.
While Prescott expressed some optimism that a deal could get done when speaking to the media this weekend — noting that the “money is there” for a new deal — things are a bit more tense between Lamb and the Cowboys. The receiver has yet to report to camp, and while Prescott noted that the receiver is “ready to be back” there is no sign a deal is coming.
Especially given comments made today by Dallas owner Jerry Jones.
Speaking at Cowboys’ training camp the owner indicated that a new deal had been offered to Lamb last week.
However, he also said this:

Those remarks drew a reaction around the NFL world. But while Cowboys fans might not be too concerned with what the average sportswriter might think about what Jones had to say, they might be interested in what Lamb’s reaction was.
And it was rather simple, and to the point:

Prescott was approached regarding those comments, and did his best to tamp things down. The quarterback told assembled media at Cowboys’ camp that from his side, their is “urgency” for Lamb to have a new contract and report to camp, but also that it would not take long to get the receiver up to speed.
He might want to pass that urgency along to his owner.
