Celtic given sizeable away allocation for Partick cup clash

Celtic have been given a large away allocation for their upcoming match against Partick Thistle.

Brendan Rodgers’ team will travel to Maryhill for the Premier Sports Cup quarter-final on Sunday, September 21, with a 3.30pm kick-off.

The match was chosen for live TV coverage by Premier.

A week-long consultation involving 1,150 fan owners and several fan groups decided the away ticket allocation for Celtic.

A majority of 61.4 per cent of respondents voted for placing visiting supporters in the Jackie Husband Stand.

This decision means Celtic will receive about 5,900 tickets for the match, while Partick Thistle will have around 3,950.

Before their trip to Firhill, Celtic have two Scottish Premiership fixtures to tackle.

They have a game against Rangers this Sunday, followed by a trip to Rugby Park after the international break.

Speaking about the upcoming game at Ibrox, manager Brendan Rodgers said: “We’ve won most of our games against Rangers because we’ve played well and focused on performance.

“Not getting too caught up in the whole hype of it all.

“Playing without fear and playing the level of football that’s expected here at Celtic.

“When we’ve done that in the majority of my time here, we’ve played well and won the games.

“The games last year, the games we lost, we didn’t deserve to win.

“We were beat well there at Ibrox.

“We lost a home game that we shouldn’t have lost.

“And then obviously the draw and the chance to win that game.

“And then the Cup Final we won on penalties.

“So, yeah, it’s not rocket science.

“Play well, play with confidence, compete, fight, run, show your quality and you’ll always have a chance of winning the game.”
