Celtic are looking to put new signing Hayato Inamura out on loan ahead of the transfer deadline.
The Scottish champions only signed the versatile defender from Albirex Niigata last month.
The Hoops have now alerted clubs on TransferRoom the 23-year-old is available for loan and are looking for his wages to be covered.
Inamura made his Celtic debut in the weekend win over Livingston, but Celtic’s move is not really a surprise, as manager Brendan Rodgers has been far from convinced by the Japanese player.
When Inamura was signed he was asked if he would be part of his first-team, he answered: “No, he won’t be. He’s a part of the investment of the club.”
Rodgers’ position then looked to have softened when Inamura impressed in pre-season but the writing was on the wall again when he was left out of Celtic’s squad for their Champions League play-off with Kairat.
Rodgers had previously said it was an easy decision because Inamura wasn’t quite at the level yet.
He claimed: “He’s not quite at the level, as of yet, that I would expect.
“The plan for Ina was to come in and train and see where he was at, with the possibility of going out on loan because he’s only had a year’s football.”
That Celtic board are already under-fire for their lack of summer transfer activity that has gone some way to them crashing out of the Champions League.
Kieran Tierney have come back from Celtic and Benjamin Nygren from Nordsjaelland but the rest have been project and squad players including Inamura, Shin Yamada, Ross Doohan and Jahmai Simpson-Pusey on-loan from Manchester City.
Celtic have also agreed deals for long-term targets Michel-Ange Balikwisha from Antwerp and Uruguayan left-back Marcelo Saracchi, but that comes after their European exit.
They have also made a £3million bid for winger Sebastien Tounekti but Hammarby want double that fee.
Meanwhile Birmingham City are plotting another raid on Celtic, with Football League World reporting that Yang has emerged as a late summer target.
