Celtics Sign Former Raptors Forward To Training Camp Contract

The Boston Celtics will enter the 2024-25 NBA season as the reigning NBA champions after they beat the Dallas Mavericks in the 2024 NBA Finals.

It was a dominant performance from Boston who took a 3-0 lead against Dallas and closed things out on the home floor to win the franchise’s 18th NBA title.

Jaylen Brown took home Finals MVP honors, while Jayson Tatum, Jrue Holiday and Derrick White are using the summer to play for Team USA and potentially add more hardware to their trophy collection.

The Celtics are considered the early favorites to repeat as champions and for good reason as they’ve got the most talent and balanced roster in the league.

Their two-way dominance is the standard for team building and as of now it’s hard to imagine any team challenging them in a seven-game series.

While training camp remains a couple of months away, Boston is gearing up as they are reportedly signing Ron Harper Jr. to a deal via Keith Smith of Spotrac.

“The Boston Celtics have signed Ron Harper Jr. to a non-guaranteed training camp contract,” Smith reported.

Harper is the son of former NBA player Ron Harper and originally got his start with the Toronto Raptors as an undrafted free agent.

Harper signed a two-way contract initially and got a chance to sign a second one before he was waived.

Now, he’ll get an opportunity to compete for a roster spot with the Celtics though the most likely result is he winds up getting waived and placed on their G League team.
