Fulham manager Marco Silva has confirmed that Nigerian winger Samuel Chukwueze will miss Tuesday’s Carabao Cup clash against Wycombe Wanderers due to injury.
The Nigerian international picked up an injury during the Super Eagles’ 4-0 win over Benin’s Cheetahs at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo.
Chukwueze impressed in the first half of that encounter, providing two assists before being replaced at the start of the second half by Olakunle Olusegun.
Since sustaining the injury, the 26-year-old winger has missed Fulham’s last two Premier League fixtures against Arsenal and Newcastle United.
Speaking at his pre-match press conference, Silva revealed that the Cottagers will be without several key players, including Chukwueze, for the midweek encounter.
“In terms of numbers I think we are going to have around six to seven players out again,” Silva said to Fulham’s official webpage.
“To be more clear, Antonee Robinson, Joachim Andersen, Emile Smith-Rowe, Rodrigo Muniz, Harry Wilson and Samuel Chukwueze.”
Chukwueze joined Fulham on loan from AC Milan on deadline day, aiming to rediscover his best form in the Premier League.
He made an encouraging start to the season, registering one assist in his first two league appearances against Aston Villa and Bournemouth.
Chukwueze will now focus on making a swift recovery from his injury as he looks to regain fitness and continue his promising form for the Cottagers.
