Over the past several weeks, the Cincinnati Bengals have found themselves in a bitter contract dispute with former All-Pro wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase. Even though Chase is under contract for an additional two years after he was signed to his fifth-year option earlier this year, the LSU product is threatening to hold out games on behalf of his health if the organization doesn’t provide him with a lucrative contract extension. This has been a rapidly escalating situation that could end up being horrible news for the city of Cincinnati.
Cincinnati Bengals Star on the Field Prior to Game with New England Patriots
Luckily for Cincinnati, we finally have a concrete sign that Chase is planning on playing against the New England Patriots in week 1. During pre-game warmups, Chase was seen participating in drills and the short team period, strongly indicating that he is going to play against the stout defensive secondary of the New England Patriots. Video footage of his participation is seen below.

Cincinnati is in desperate need of a quick win after starting off the season poorly has become a signature trait of this team under superstar quarterback Joe Burrow. Even after a miserable start in 2021, Burrow was able to lead this team to their first Super Bowl appearance since 1989. Just imagine what he’d be able to do if this team avoided digging themselves a hole over the first month of the season.
Expect Chase to spend the game locked in with New England standout cornerback Christian Gonzalez. The 2023 first-round pick is quickly developing into one of the most physical defensive back in the NFL so that combined with the size and strength of Chase promises for a slugfest on the outside when Chase tries to get a release.
