Cleveland Cavaliers Emerge as ‘Team to Watch’ for Controversial Free Agent Forward

The Cleveland Cavaliers made their intentions to move forward with Donovan Mitchell as their cornerstone superstar abundantly clear when they signed the five-time All-Star to a massive $150.3 million three-year extension.

The Cavs, however, are far from done in terms of retooling their squad heading into the new season, and they are now being linked to controversial forward Miles Bridges as a potential free agent signing.

Cleveland Cavaliers Eyeing Miles Bridges

Bridges, who sat out the 2022-23 campaign due to legal trouble, picked up right where he left off when he returned this past season with the Charlotte Hornets. So much so, that teams have been quick to forget the off-the-court issues the 26-year-old has dealt with.

According to NBA insider Marc Stein, the Cavs have now emerged as a potential landing spot for Bridges:

“It is not yet clear how serious the interest is, but league sources describe Cleveland as a team to watch in potential sign-and-trade scenario for Miles Bridges.

“New Hornets executive vice president of basketball operations Jeff Peterson has said publicly that Charlotte hopes to retain Bridges, but Bridges is known to be interested in sign-and-trade options,” Stein wrote.

As Stein noted in his report, however, the Hornets have already indicated their desire to keep Bridges in Charlotte, which adds a layer of complication to Cleveland’s pursuit of the 6-foot-7 forward.
