As of writing, four teams in the West are currently tied with an identical 46-32 record. The Los Angeles Clippers are one of them, and they currently occupy the No. 5 spot in the conference after winning four straight games.
The Clippers, however, have the exact same record as the Golden State Warriors, Minnesota Timberwolves and Memphis Grizzlies, which only means that two guaranteed playoff spots are still very much up for grabs with four regular-season games remaining.
The Clippers are in action on Tuesday as they host the 32-46 San Antonio Spurs, who have officially been eliminated from playoff contention. The bad news for L.A., however, is that they could be without their best player on Tuesday night.
This is after the Clippers revealed a concerning bit of news surrounding Leonard and his lingering knee issue. The team announced on Monday, via the official injury report, that Leonard is questionable to play against San Antonio as the team continues to manage his right knee injury.
It is important to note that the Clippers play twice in two nights as they are scheduled to host the No. 2 seed Houston Rockets on Wednesday.
Leonard played in L.A.’s most recent back-to-back set on Apr. 4 and 5, but he did sit out on March 30 before suiting up the following night on March 31.
The Clippers could be taking a cautious approach with the oft-injured Leonard here, but there could be a cause for concern ahead of the playoffs if he ends up missing Tuesday’s crucial matchup.
At this point, L.A. supporters can only hope that the two-time Finals MVP will be healthy come the postseason.
