Commanders’ Joe Whitt Scouts Cowboys’ Cooper Rush

The Washington Commanders will host the Dallas Cowboys at Northwest Stadium in a Week 12 NFC East showdown. With a two-game losing streak on the line, Washington looks to regain form and remain competitive in the divisional race. The Commanders relinquished their Divisional lead to the Philadelphia Eagles in their most recent loss.

Former Cowboys, now playing key roles for the Commanders, bring added intrigue to the matchup. Washington’s roster and coaching staff feature notable names from Dallas’ recent history, including head coach Dan Quinn, defensive coordinator Joe Whitt Jr., and players like Dorance Armstrong, Dante Fowler, Tyler Biadasz, and Noah Brown. Whitt, a former Cowboys assistant, shared his perspective on the team’s recent struggles and the challenge Dallas poses.

“The Philly game; It’s just disappointing that we played, defensively, well for 53 minutes, but it’s a 60-minute game. We talk about finishing winning moments, and we didn’t get that done,” Whitt said.

“Talking about Dallas a little bit. Had the history there. Being there the last couple of years. I have a lot of respect for the men in that room. Coaches, players, ownership, front office, everybody. It was a good place to be. I know how hard those players in that locker room work and how they prepare, and how they get ready. So, this is going to be a very, very hard game. A lot of respect for Cooper Rush. We won a lot of games when I was there with him as our quarterback. I know he can play winning football.” continued Whitt.

Dallas enters at 3-7, riding a five-game losing streak and dealing with injuries to key players like CeeDee Lamb, Zack Martin, and Tyler Smith. For the Commanders, a victory would help maintain momentum in their playoff push while capitalizing on their opponents’ struggles.

As the NFC East race heats up, Washington knows that every game counts. Taking advantage of the Cowboys’ current challenges could be pivotal in determining the trajectory of the Commanders’ season. A win would not only snap their losing streak but also provide a much-needed boost heading into the latter stages of the schedule.
