Connor McDavid has always been destined for greatness in the NHL. The Edmonton Oilers superstar added to his incredible hockey resume on Thursday night when he finally recorded his 1,000th point in the league during a game against the Nashville Predators at Rogers Place in Edmonton.
McDavid, who entered the Preds game with 999 career NHL points, found the back of the net early in the second period to tie the game at 1-1 and, of course, hit the milestone that everyone was waiting for him to get.
Leon Draisaitl and Darnell Nurse also each recorded an assist on that goal by McDavid, who has been on fire of late.
The 27-year-old McDavid had two goals and five assists in the two games heading into the meeting with Nashville.
It was just a matter of when and against which team he’d get his 1000th point, and on Thursday, the three-time Hart Memorial Trophy winner delivered it in highlight fashion.
Immediately after McDavid’s second-period goal, his wife, Lauren Kyle posted a congratulatory message for the former No. 1 pick overall.
“1000!!!!!! AH SO proud of you!!!” Kyle captioned her Instagram Story post showing McDavid’s celebration with the Oilers after his goal.

Making the night sweeter for McDavid was his assist to Darnell Nurse’s game-winning goal in overtime to lift the Oilers to a 3-2 victory.
Through 14 games played, McDavid has six goals and 13 assists for 19 points in the 2024-25 NHL campaign.
The Oilers are now 9-7-1. They will look to keep the good times rolling when they put their three-game undefeated streak on the line this coming Sunday against the Toronto Maple Leafs at Scotiabank Arena.
